| Description | 330-PS-3249 (USN 708808): During ceremonies at California, Captain R.W.D. Woods, left, Bureau of Aeronautics Representative, accepted the Navy’s first R7V-1 Lockheed “Super Constellation” from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation President Robert K. Gross (center). The 106 passenger plane can be quickly converted to an 18 ton cargo freighter, or a 73 patient ambulance. It has hard facing seats. Called “The Fastest of the Fleet,” the R7V-1 can be used for faster personnel movement, cargo shipment, and hospital plane operations, March 12, 1953. (5/5/2015). |
