| Description | 330-PSA-133-60 (USN 710760): Captain William C. Mott, USN, Becomes New Judge Advocate General. Captain William C. Mott, USN, becomes Judge Advocate General of the Navy during ceremonies in the Secretary of the Navy’s office at the Pentagon, August 1. He replaces Rear Admiral Chester C. Ward, USN, who retires August 1. Captain Mott is the second legal specialist appoint to the post. Admiral Ward was the first. Effective with his appointment as Judge Advocate General, Captain Mott was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral. He has been Deputy and Assistant Judge Advocate General with additional duties as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Defense since September 1958. Shown here is Mrs. Mott helping with the new Rear Admiral shoulder boards as Secretary of the Navy William B. Franke watches. Photograph released August 2, 1960. (8/25/2015). |
