Description 428-GX-K-126996: Newport News, Virginia. A large “Victory” emblem with an eagle superimposed on the bow of USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), at Newport News Shipbuilding Company during launching ceremony. The Vinson was the first U.S. Navy ship named for a living person since the 1820s. Photographed March 15, 1980. U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/06/07).
