[edit]Description5972 Olton Hall Castle Donington.jpg |
GWR Hall Class No. 5972 Olton Hall (TOPS No. 98572), dressed up in a fictitious livery as a Hogwarts Railway locomotive for use in the Harry Potter films. For filming she is named Hogwarts Castle (despite being a Hall not a Castle). Here she is carrying Olton Hall nameplates. Seen working the 5Z59 Tyseley-York NRM through Castle Donington, Leicestershire on 20 July 2009. The previous day she had worked the Shakespeare Express in the West Midlands. At the NRM she's going to be giving shuttle train rides every Sunday between 26 July ?30 August, and will be on display on other days. My second GWR Hall in three days. Unfortunately not making as much steam as sister Kinlet Hall was on Saturday morning, and with only two coaches on (about 60 tons in total), presumably not much need for it. Also hence the going away shot to give the impression at least of a proper train. I'm in two minds about this livery. On the one hand it's oh so very very wrong; GWR engines should be green (or maybe black). On the other hand being a Midland man it's a quite attractive livery, and if the extra income keeps her on the mainline then that's surely a good thing - as for not being historically accurate, this is railway history today, not of the past. |
