Description

9 March 2007. Tottenham has some lovely old buildings. This is 7 White Hart Lane N17.

The house is a Grade II listed Georgian building; converted into two self-contained flats. It used to be owned by Metropolitan Housing - a Registered Social Landlord (RSL). But is now owned privately.

An attractive asset for Tottenham - apart from the regular dumping of rubbish outside.

I reported dumped bags along White Hart Lane. On 5 March 2007 you replied that three out of five piles of bags were dumped; two others were "designated refuse collection points".

I'm pleased that in recent months the incidence of dumping along this road seems far less. So my thanks to the Monitoring staff who've been keeping an eye on it.

Unfortunately, one exception is the dumping of refuse bags outside number 7 White Hart Lane. The frequent dumping is a particular shame, because this is an attractive Georgian House, and a statutory listed Grade II building.

Cllr Sheila Peacock suggests that at least some of these bags may be from shops, or flats above shops in the rear of the alleyway at the side of Number 7. Plainly, it's not enough for Accord to remove dumping promptly and regularly. This just encourages more. ____________________________ ► ► Update. Read the reply here.

In England a building is "listed" when it's on a statutory register of buildings of "special architectural or historic interest" Grade I means "of "exceptional interest". Grade II* means "particularly important buildings of more than special interest". Grade II is for buildings of "special interest".
