Description

Looking E from top deck of "Starship Landing" (<a href="https://wordnik.com/words/wharf-boat" rel="nofollow">wharf boat</a> for excursion boat <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/bill_alden/18349454941/">"Star of Louisville"</a>). Left of center, permanently moored barges provide some protection against stray vessels or other large objects drifting downstream and hitting "Star of Louisville" while it is moored. At right, <a href="https://louisvillewaterfront.com/about-wdc/what-we-do/our-headquarters/" rel="nofollow">Waterfront Development Corp. building</a>, which formerly housed offices of sand yard at this location (operated by Martin Marietta, and before that, Ohio River Sand Company). The ground floor contains little more than a stairwell and elevator shaft; the offices on the upper floors are raised above most floods. Beyond the building, the sand yard has been cleared before construction of <a href="https://www.bing.com/maps?q=waterfront+park" rel="nofollow">Waterfront Park</a>. . <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_River" rel="nofollow">Ohio River</a> mile 604. <a href="http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lmk&gage=mluk2" rel="nofollow">Upper gauge</a> = approx. 20 feet. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisville,_Kentucky" rel="nofollow">Louisville, Kentucky</a> Dec. 20, 1990. file # 90L039. .
