Description

For the first time since <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/99279135@N05/11834880173">8 January 2014</a> a class 92 hauls the empty steel train.

DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd's HS1 compatible class 92 number 92031 previously named "Schillier" painted in Deutsche Bahn cherry red with DB Schenker branding and a three 'O' shaped channel tunnel logo is photographed working 4E26 from Dollands Moor sidings to Scunthorpe Redbourne sidings on 1 May 2015. It was replaced by class 66 number 058 at Wembley (66 number 058 WBLT WEMBLEYYD WEMBLEYYD F N 4E26 7D A) which was changed for 66 number 050 at Doncaster Belmont Yard. This service returns empty FIA 'Multifret' twin intermodal flat wagons used to transport steel for export in billet form from Tata Steels Scunthorpe complex on South Humberside in Lincolnshire (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/98929239@N03/14032630236/in/photostream/">see Andy Pictons photo</a>) to a freight yard at Ebange in Eastern France via Dollands Moor and Calais Fréthun through the Channel Tunnel (<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/99279135@N05/14036377443/">click here for the route</a>).

Wagons being hauled included 31 70 4938 110-4, 33 70 4938 703 4, 31 70 4938 721 8, 31 70 4938 316 7, 31 70 4938 048-6, 33 70 4938 319 9 and 33 70 4938 707 5.

Laurent Knop photographed Euro Cargo Rail's loco number E 186-317 at Valenciennes (Nord - department 59) hauling loaded wagons working from <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/x4644/13687214105/">Calais Fréthun to Ebange</a> on 2 April 2014. Nicolas Tomaszewski also videoed a loaded train passing Beuvrages hauled by <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/france-ferroviaire/14112205833/">Euro Cargo Rail's E186 162-4</a>. Once in Ebange the steel is used at Tata's Hayange rail mill to produce rail for SNCF's LGV Est européenne construction programme to extend the French high-speed rail network. 92031 (works number BT1090) was built by the Brush Traction Company at Loughborough in 1995.
