Summary
[edit]Description92037 and 92019 Barry Docks ABP (Dow Corning) to Dollands Moor (then Amberieu and Notre Dame-de-Briancon, France) (13974222314).jpg | When it runs this service is typically hauled by a class 66 from Barry Docks to Wembley where another class 66 or a class 92 takes over for the last part to Dollands Moor. In this case class 66 number 031 worked to Wembley on 18 April 2014 photographed by Alex Higham at Pilning (www.flickr.com/photos/123402530@N02/13983445481/) followed by a pair of class 92's took it on, numbers 92037 named "Sullivan" and 92019 named "Wagner". 4 SNCF-registered NACCO Polybulk covered silicon hoppers (the third being number 0699 006-3) can be seen behind the locos along with 12 intermodal containers (for a better view of a hopper see John Turner's photo www.flickr.com/photos/blue-diesels/5441274099/in/faves-99...) The empty hoppers seen here are used to transport silica sand from either Amberieu or Notre Dame-de-Briancon France to Dow Corning's silicon-based materials manufacturing plant at Barry, Wales, where it is used to produce semiconductor silicone polymers. The photograph was taken on Tuesday 22 April 2014, not as expected on Saturday possibly due to the Easter break. In France the train passes Hazebrouck (see 1.bp.blogspot.com/-D3mPhzxDR5w/U44E8r8xV3I/AAAAAAAAefo/5R...(4).jpg). Details on the aluminium works plate were engraved by J M Ranger Limited of Leicester. |
