Description: Mithraeum - a temple to the god Mithra. The god of the sun and friendship, loyalty and agreements. An important god in Persian and Hindu mythology. This is the first Mithra temple discovered in Israel. Near the eastern bench was found a round slab made of marble, 7.3 cm in diameter, with a relief depicting the god Mithra killing a bull

תיאור: מיתריאום - מקדש לאל מיתרה.אל השמש ואל החברות, הנאמנות וההסכמים. אל חשוב במיתולוגיה הפרסית וההינדואית. זהו מקדש מיתרה הראשון שנתגלה בארץ. ליד הספסל המזרחי נמצאה לוחית עגולה עשויה שיש, שקוטרה 7.3 ס"מ, ועליה תבליט המתאר את האל מיתרה הורג פר
הערות: קיסריה היא עיר נמל שהוקמה בשנים 13–25 לפנה"ס. העיר הייתה המרכז המנהלי הרומי ביהודה מאז כינון פרובינקיה יודיאה (לאחר הדחת ארכלאוס בשנת 6 לספירה). היא שמרה על מעמד זה ביהודה, ולאחר מכן בפרובינקיה סוריה-פלשתינה עד 390, ולאחריו בפרובינקיה הביזנטית פלשתינה פרימה. העיר נקראה על שם אוגוסטוס קיסר. כיום חלק משטח העיר העתיקה הוא גן לאומי בניהול רשות הטבע והגנים ביחד עם החברה לפיתוח קיסריה. בסמוך לעתיקות קיסריה, הוקמה במאה ה-20 קיסריה המודרנית.(ויקיפדיה)
