Name: Ariel Sharon Park
Description: In 2007, the governmental naming committee decided to name the park "Ariel Sharon Park", in recognition of his contribution to the establishment of the place. For the purpose of establishing the park, a government company was established called the "Government Company Park Ariel Sharon (Ayalon) Ltd." Until the park was established, the area was called Hirayya, after the Arab village of El Hirayya.

תיאור: ב2007 החליטה ועדת השמות הממשלתית לקרוא לפארק בשם "פארק אריאל שרון", כהוקרה על תרומתו להקמת המקום. לשם הקמת הפארק הוקמה חברה ממשלתית בשם "החברה הממשלתית פארק אריאל שרון (איילון) בע"מ".עד להקמת הפארק נקרא האזור חירייה, על שם הכפר הערבי אל חירייה.
הערות: פארק איילון ע"ש אריאל שרון הוא שטח גלילי פתוח לאורך נחל איילון בקטע שבין נמל התעופה בן-גוריון לנתיבי איילון. השטח תחום מצפון על ידי אור יהודה, רמת גן ותל אביב-יפו ומדרום על ידי כביש 1, אזור ומקוה ישראל. גודלו של השטח כולל השטח הפתוח של מקוה ישראל 8,500 דונם (8.5 קמ"ר: פי שניים וחצי מגודלו של הסנטרל פארק) ונועד לשמש כריאה הירוקה של דרום מטרופולין גוש דן המצוי בשטחה הגאוגרפי של בקעת אונו. הפארק כולל את תל הפסולת המשוקם חירייה, מתחם חוות שלם, שטחי מקוה ישראל ופארק מנחם בגין.
