Summary[edit]

Description
English: Varaha is a part of Hindu legends in Vaishnavism. This statue is a part of the Chanderi Museum collection. It features:
  • Goddess earth on one tusk
  • Saraswati on the other tusk
  • 340 miniature figures carved all over the body (larger Varaha statues found in India have about 850, some over a 1000; these cover art from almost every Hindu tradition and important legends)
  • Six rows/bands of artwork that includes Ashtavasus, Adityas, saptamatrikas, Dasavataras, Rudras, Ganesha, Navagrahas, river goddesses, sages and students discussing manuscripts, Vidhyadharas, Brahma, Vishnu, Maheswara, Kartikeya, Nataraja, Parvati, Vedic deities, etc.
This was found midst ruins at the major medieval Hindu temples, monasteries and education center site in Thubon, Madhya Pradesh.
