Description
English: Four U.S. Navy Douglas AD-6 Skyraider (BuNo 134561, 134634, 135278, 135319) of Attack Squadron 196 (VA-196) "Main Battery" in flight, in 1958. VA-196 was assigned to Air Task Group 1 (ATG-1) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 4 October 1958 to 16 February 1959.
  • 134561 was later transferred to the South Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF);
  • 134634 was later transferred to the VNAF and shot down on 10 January 1969 while in service with the 516th Fighter Squadron;
  • 135278 was later transferred to the VNAF and shot down on 20 September 1964 while in service with the 516th FS;
  • 135319 was damaged beyond repair in an accident on 21 February 1963 while in service with VA-165.
