Description

Zbiór tabliczek woskowych miasta Torunia – zapisy dotyczące głównie finansów miejskich i wszelkiego rodzaju transakcji zawieranych przez mieszczan (czynszów od urządzeń targowych i przemysłowych, gruntów i różnorodnych rent); rozliczenia wzajemnych zobowiązań, różne formy spłaty długów; wilkierze i uchwały rady miejskiej.
Opis zewnętrzny: Oryginały, jęz. niemiecki; 16 poliptyków, utworzonych ze 127 deseczek wykonanych z drewna gruszy, jabłoni, lipy, jaworu i dębu; poszczególne deseczki połączone są od strony grzbietu rzemieniami lub sznurkami. Całość zabezpieczona jest drewnianymi okładkami (drewno wiśni, jesionu i gruszy), często ozdobionymi ornamentem roślinnym i zoomorficznym. Na oprawach wyryte są m.in. chimery, gryfy, bazyliszki, centaury i smoki. Wymiary deseczek są zróżnicowane i wynoszą: maksymalnie 41,7 x 21,7 cm (długość i szerokość), minimalnie 25,5 x 13,2 cm. Grubość deseczek waha się od 1,2 do 0,5 cm.
