Description U.S. Navy aviation ordnancemen from Fighter Squadron 142 (VF-142) arm one of their squadron's Grumman F-14A Tomcat aircraft on the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) on 1 August 1990. In the foreground is a box of stabilizing fins for the AIM-7 Sparrow missiles on the weapons skid directly behind the box. An AIM-9 Sidewinder missile is on the skid at left. The Eisenhower was one of the U.S. Navy ships sent to the Persian Gulf in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
