ARVN soldier practices crossing barbed wire at the Jungle Warfare Training Centre at Nui Dat

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Nui Dat, South Vietnam. May 1971. Surrounded by smoke, a Vietnamese student steadies himself before climbing over the last section of a twenty yard barbed wire entanglement at the Jungle Warfare Training Centre (JWTC) at Nui Dat, Phuoc Tuy Province. The obstacle is one of many in the Survival Course at the school designed to test the students initiative and leadership ability. Smoke and explosions set off by Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) members keep the students alert.
