Description |
English: "Photo 15.1 Tellem caves in the steep face." A young man is sitting next to the steep face of the Bandiaghara cliff in front of four openings of the Tellem caves, the previous inhabitants of the area before the 15th/16th century. Tellem means "We have found them." The caves were tombs and were closed with mud walls. The rock face consists of sandstone and limestone containing iron. |
