Summary[edit]

Description

I remember shooting this on the shortest day of the year. The sunrise was late around 6.20 or so. The morning was quite chilly and the place had a beautiful light fog all around.

The birds were not active and very few had come out of their roosting places. Then we sighted this juvenile Shrike - judging by his size - that was seemingly enjoying the sunrise. He seemed happy and was perched like that for a while. We moved on without disturbing it after a few shots.

These are migratory Shrikes to our state since we don't see them in Summers - guess they make local movements within the country. They are quite aggressive birds and often challenge the pesky Drongoes for the turf.
