Summary[edit]

Description

Also known as "Bengal Weavers" since they migrate from the State of Bengal down south during winters. The birds exhibit similar behavior to that of the common Baya Weavers, but are differentiated by the black breast or ring of black around the neck area. In breeding plumage, the crown turns bright yellow and the neck turns black downwards to the breast. The birds migrate in large numbers of more than 1000, and easy to spot, but again very sensitive to people. One key differentiator is that unlike Baya Weavers, these weavers also tend to congregate in Sugarcane fields which sometimes gives their presence away. They are beautiful birds and hope to get more shots of them in this season.
