Summary[edit]

Description

One of the larger woodpeckers in South Asia and easily confused with the other White-Naped. These are usually seen in pairs with the male and female sticking together. In the area we went, these are frequent and easily sighted. Getting a good shot is another topic though. The birds usually cling on the higher canopy and have similar food like other woodpeckers. They make a very interesting sound while flying which gives them away.
