Summary[edit]

Description

Woodpeckers are often amongst the favorites for any birder / bird photographer to sight. I was lucky to have spotted 3 different species this day and hence remember it vividly.

This is the smallest woodpecker species in the country at just under 15 cms. It is found in the jungles and wooded areas. Similar to the other woodpecker, resident of South Asia. Prefers fruits and berries, but also ants, termites, larvae, and beetles. And I remember we heard it first - tapping gently on the tree - and then we had to strain our eyes trying to find it.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.
