Description

The Bagherhat Historic District was founded in the 15th century in the delta of one of the great rivers of the world. As rivers are likely to do, though, the channel changes rapidly, and the magnificent city of Khalifatabad was lost. It's labeled by Forbes as one of the 15 Lost cities of the world. Many of the mosques were restored by the British in the 1st part of the 20th century.
