In 2016 wint de Nederlandse Amy Pieters voor de derde keer op rij in Waregem. Haar landgenotes Monique Van de Ree (2012) en Kirsten Wild (2013) gingen haar vooraf. Pieters: "Dwars door Vlaanderen is niet alleen de ideale voorbereiding op de Ronde van Vlaanderen, het is ook een hele mooie koers om te rijden. Het draaien en keren, de kasseien, de hellingen, de sfeer... daar hou ik wel van. Winnen in Waregem is best wel bijzonder. Ik hoop om in de toekomst nog een vierde pluchen paard te kunnen bemachtigen."
