Summary[edit]

Description

This small creek (apparently unnamed, but here referred to as Ash Cave Creek) is just above Ash Cave Falls in the scenic Hocking Hills of southeastern Ohio.

The rocks are part of the Lower Mississippian Black Hand Sandstone. The unit consists of quartzose sandstones and pebbly sandstones. It was traditionally interpreted as an ancient delta deposit, but modern work has shown it is an incised valley fill complex.
