Kommentar: Carl August von Struensee ist am 18. August 1735 in Halle geboren und am 17. Oktober 1804 in Berlin gestorben. Er war Minister des Accise-, Zoll- und Commercialwesens, Direktor der Königlichen Seehandlungsgesellschaft. Nach Hoffmann ist diese Medaille als Geschenkmedaille der Seehandlungs-Societät in Auftrag gegeben worden. Allein 536 Stück sicherte sich die Seehandlung von der ersten Ausprägung vorab. Struensee war 1789 in den dänischen Adelsstand erhoben worden. Die Medaille stammt aus der bedeutenden Medaillensammlung des Karl Asmund Rudolphi, des in Schweden geborenen Anatoms und Sammlers, die 1834 für das Münzkabinett erworben wurde und mehr als 9000 Objekte umfasste.
