Using 450 ultrasonic transducers, a large particle (approximately twice the size of wavelength) is levitated using acoustic levitator.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Acoustic vortices can levitate large object but it is highly unstable. The technique of acoustic virtual vortex switches between right and left-hand rotation of vortex, thereby stabilizing the particles in place. See the publication by Marzo et al. for the details on the technique. Marzo, A., Caleap, M. & Drinkwater, B. W. Acoustic Virtual Vortices with Tunable Orbital Angular Momentum for Trapping of Mie Particles. Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 44301 (2018).
