Add a one-line explanation of what this file represents
Description Jane Austen visited Adelstrop House, formerly the rectory, at least three times between 1794 and 1806 when the occupant was Rev. Thomas Leigh, cousin of Jane Austen's mother. The Leighs could trace their history in this village back to Tudor times. Jane is thought to have drawn inspiration from the village and its surroundings for her novel Mansfield Park. Whilst Jane and her mother and sister were staying here in 1806, Thomas Leigh heard about his inheritance of Stoneleigh Abbey in Warwickshire and the whole party including Jane decamped to the Abbey.
