Description

From a mostly uncaptioned photo album, c. 1943. From Ira Rutberg: "The two photos reflect adjacent, disabled Douglas DB7-B3 ("B" for bomber...) aircraft on a single airfield. These could be 32nd Bomb Group aircraft based in Morocco: at Agadir (GB II/32); or at Camp Cazes/Casablanca (GB I/32).

I have no details concerning damage or loss to DB7 aircraft based at Agadir During TORCH, and it may be that the field was not subjected to air attack during TORCH. GB I/32, on the other hand, was almost wiped-out on the ground at Camp Cazes.

My impression is that the DB7 aircraft in the photos are strafed hulks at Camp Cazes.

They might otherwise be GB I/19 or GB II/61 (squadrons of the 19th and 61st Bomb Groups, respectively) DB7 hulks at the Blida field in Algeria. Blida was strafed by Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm fighters on 08 NOV 1942, but I have no details concerning any damage to the aircraft there."
