Đức Hoàng-Đế vừa hay tin Nguyên Thủ-Tướng Trần Tiên-sinh tạ-thế nên khâm-mạng tôi tới đây đọc những lời Ngài ban để ai-điếu Cố Thủ-Tướng.

Ông Nguyên Thủ-Tướng,
Được tin Ông tỵ trần, lòng tôi thương-cảm vô-hạn. Vẫn biết tuổi Ông đã gọi là thọ ; sự nghiệp văn-hóa, chánh-trị của Ông đã biểu-dương một thân-thế cao-quý. Song tôi không khỏi ngậm-ngùi nhớ rằng mới cách đây mấy hôm, tôi còn vui thấy Ông tinh-thần vẫn tráng-kiện, chí-khí còn hăm-hở, và tưởng rằng trong những ngày sắp tới là lúc Tổ-Quốc cần hết thảy những con dân tài-đức như Ông, Ông tuy tuổi cao sức yếu, vẫn có thể phục-vụ giang-sơn như suốt cả cuộc đời tận-tụy của Ông !
Lịch-sử sẽ ghi thanh-danh Ông, thanh-danh một nhà mô-phạm biệt-tài, một nhà văn-học lỗi-lạc, một nhà ../..
chí-sỹ ái-quốc. Và thân-thế trong-trắng của Ông đã làm gương cho kẻ đương-thời sẽ làm gương cho lớp hậu-thế.
Riêng đối với tôi, tôi không quên rằng trong những giai-đoạn khó-khăn của lịch-sử, lúc nào Ông cũng sẵn-sàng hăng-hái làm người cộng-sự đắc-lực của tôi : nào khi Ông nhận đảm-đương sứ-mạng nặng-nề điều-khiển con thuyền quốc-gia trong khi thế nước chông-chênh ; nào lúc tòng-vong ở nơi hải-ngoại khi tôi tranh-đấu để mang lại cho dân-tộc một hy-vọng, một tin-tưởng ở tương-lai ; nào buổi mới đây tuy tuổi đã ngoài 70 mà Ông còn hăng-hái đứng lên đảm-nhiệm trọng-trách chủ-tịch hội-nghị toàn-quốc trong cuộc tường-bày ý-nguyện của dân-tộc.
Ông thực đã xứng-đáng với dân-tộc. Ông quả đã xứng-đáng với lòng tín-cẩn của tôi.
Công-trạng ấy tôi không quên. Quốc-dân cũng không quên. Lịch-sử sẽ ghi công của người con ưu-tú của đất-nước.
Tin rằng hương-hồn ông sẽ được tiêu-diêu nơi cực-lạc.
Bà Nguyên Thủ-Tướng,
Tôi đề lời phân-ưu cùng Bà và Toàn-Gia. Tôi mong rằng lòng tiếc-thương của hết thảy quốc-dân đối với Cố Thủ-Tướng sẽ làm cho Bà nhẹ bớt một phần nào nỗi đau-đớn về dịp này và sự nghiệp lâu-dài của Cố Thủ-Tướng sẽ làm cho Bà được cái an-ủi rằng sự nghiệp ấy còn cũng như là người chí-sỹ khuất-núi vẫn còn !
