Description
English: Aircraft on deck of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59), in 1961 (l-r):
  • a Vought F8U-1P Crusader of Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron 62 (VFP-62) Det.42 "Fighting Photos";
  • a Douglas A4D-2N Skyhawk of Attack Squadron 83 (VA-83) "Rampagers";
  • a F8U-2 of Fighter Squadron 103 (VF-103) "Sluggers";
  • a Douglas F4D-1 Skyray of VF-102 "Diamondbacks";
  • a Grumman WF-2 Tracer of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 12 (VAW-12) Det.42 "Bats".
All squadrons were assigned to Carrier Air Group 8 (CVG-8) aboard the Forrestal for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 9 February to 25 August 1961.
