Abstract  

A black-and-white photograph of Al Simmons, dressed in a Philadelphia Athletics road uniform, batting. Simmons is captured having just completed his swing, with his bat behind his left shoulder. Based on his location on the field, it appears to be a practice swing. An unidentified stadium is in the background. Based on the styling of the uniform, Simmons' time with the Athletics, and the stamp on the back of the image (not shown), the photograph was taken in 1929 or 1930.
