Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Alfred A. Berrick House, 147 Linwood Avenue, Buffalo, December 2019. The outstanding features on this 1892 Queen Anne-style residence are the steep gable roof, surrounded by a quartet of brick chimneys and featuring a trio of round-arched dormer windows separated by Doric pilasters, as well as the asymmetrical portico that's characteristic of the style, decorated with a frieze that includes spindle and fan brackets and a spindle balustrade. Albert A. Berrick (1860-1950) - along with his father Charles and brother John - were the namesake executives of the Charles Berrick and Sons contracting firm, which in fact was responsible for the construction of many of the neighboring houses in the Linwood Avenue Historic District. Berrick and his wife lived in the house until 1922; he is recorded as having lived in East Aurora at the time of his death.
