Description
English: His last letter, written on the day of his execution: Dresden, January 12th, 1945, My dear Gertrud! The fetters have just been released to send you farewell again. We were all together again and expect our physical end today. We are composed and each one is as brave as the other. I wanted, you could see us. We left the sadness in the cell. I hope you have received my letter, which I wrote on the 3rd of this month. I believed that I would be taken down on the 4th and was therefore not a little surprised when I landed in your arms and was able to hold you to my heart again.]].
