Description
English: Sisters Althea Rosina Sherman, an ornithologist, and Dr. Amelia Sherman, a physician, sitting on their front porch in Farmersburg Township, Iowa. August 1923. The caption in "Iowa Bird Life" reads, "From a photograph taken on the Sherman porch by Dr. T. C. Stephens in August,

1923. The scene is very typical and shows the sisters as they are remembered by the hundreds of nature students who visited their home over a long period of years. Miss Althea holds a copy of The Condor, probably her favorite magazine. The Doctor holds

a copy of the Journal of the American Medical Society, her favorite."
