| Description | This elk is seen inhabiting the Cypress Uplands ecozone. The Cypress Hills are an area of southwest Saskatchewan with the highest elevation, reacing 1350 metres. They avoided glaciation during the last ice age, providing a refuge for wildlife and alpine plants. This elk is a male, whose antlers are shed annually in winter and regrow in the spring. |
