Description
English: Figurehead from King Gustav III's yacht and staff ship Amphion at the Maritime Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. The ship was designed by the Swedish ship constructor Fredrik Henrik af Chapman (1721-1808), built in Karlskrona and launched in 1778. The figurehead was carved by ornament sculptor Pehr Ljung (1743-1819). Amphion was the protector of culture in Greek mythology.
Svenska: Galjonsfigur från Gustav III:s lustjakt och stabsfartyg Amphion på Sjöhistoriska museet i Stockholm. Fartyget ritades av skeppskonstruktören Fredrik Henrik af Chapman (1721-1808), byggdes i Karlskrona och sjösattes 1778. Galjonsfiguren är snidad av ornamentskulptören Pehr Ljung (1743-1819). Amphion var kulturens beskyddare i den grekiska mytologin.
