English: Image of a memorial taken by Andre Pienaar on a recent trip to Cambridge using G3 camera On a recent trip to Cambridge, I thought I’d capture the local architecture and images which I felt could sum up the tone of the city. Cambridge has a great and rich history and this is reflected in its buildings. I found this memorial and thought the light quality perfectly reflected the sombre tone of remembrance. I used the shadows from the building to create an interesting shutter effect and angled the shot so make the list of names stretch into the distance to highlight the number of people killed in the war. The brightness of the light streaming through contradicts the greyscale of the brickwork and the faded golden lettering of the names. The image also puts the names at the forefront of the image, hoping to emphasis the names of those lost.
