Sébastien Slodtz (French, 1655–1726)
English: Hannibal Barca counting the rings of the Roman knights killed at the Battle of Cannae (216 BC). Marble, 1704.
Français : Hannibal comptant les anneaux des chevaliers romains tombés à la bataille de Cannes, en 216 av. J.-C. Marbre, 1704. Petit modèle exécuté par François Girardon. Sébastien Slodtz fait le grand modèle en 1687 - 1688, puis la taille du marbre de 1687 à 1704. Destiné à prendre place dans l'allée royale de Versailles. En 1696, les Bâtiments du Roi commandent en pendant Jules César à Nicolas Coustou. Les deux marbres sont transférés au jardin des Tuileries en 1722, date portée sur les statues.
