Az alföldi traasversalis—út épitéséhez szállitott s bazaltkövek szállitására szolgáló, mintegy 60 km. hosszú (mozdonytizinurs)'vasut látképe. 1895-1899-ig nagyszabású útépítési program zajlott Magyarországon, számos fő közlekedési út ekkor kapott szilárd burkolatot. Ezen építkezések részeként épült az úgynevezett "alföldi transzverzális műút", amely Bajáról indult és Kecelen, Kiskunhalason át érintette Kiskunfélegyházát, majd innen folytatódott Csongrád, Szentes, Szarvas vonalon Gyulán át a ma idegen kézen lévő lévő Kisjenő településig. Az akkor hat vármegyén keresztülhaladó, 300 km hosszúságú, szilárd burkolatú állami közút volt hivatva összekötni a fenti településeket, így segítve gazdasági és kulturális fejlődésüket. |
