Antakya Archaeological Museum Stela of Arsuz detail

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A text explains that there are two steles that differ on details. On one side there is a text in Luwian (the usual story of conquests and being friend of the gods), one the other a king meets a god. In one case both wear shoes, in the other not. The king is named Suppliluliuma, son of king Manana of the Walistin kingdom. The steles were found in Rhosos (Ancient name of Arsuz, also known as Uluçınar, a municipality in Hatay Province), and the similarity indicates they were probably erected at the same building. Late 10th-Early 9th.
