Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The booklet one gets at the museum explains this is one of some remains of the richly decorated monastery at Notre-Dame-en-Vaux in Châlons-sur-Marne. The ones Fritz Mayer van den Bergh bought in 1898 are important in the development of sculpture as the figures almost become detached from the column, their cloths are supple and in movement, beyond Roman art.
