Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Parked cars reflect Haringey Civic Centre. I haven't heard any of our 48 Haringey Labour councillors publicly objecting to wasting £86,000 on the new Logo/Rebranding.

The change was the brainchild of Cllr Joe Goldberg. His title is "cabinet member" for messing around with other people's money Economic Development, Social Inclusion and Sustainability.

JoeGo, as I prefer to think of him, defended his logo in The Municipal Journal. (The MJ - to use their own logo.) Joe's article begins:

"Making your Mark" By Cllr Joe Goldberg | 02 October 2015

"It is never going to be easy for a local authority to rebrand and change its logo. Accusations of vanity exercises, wasting taxpayers money and PR guff are likely to abound, even before you get started on the aesthetics. So why do it and why go for something as progressive and distinct as we have in Haringey?   The answer is relatively simple. Haringey has rebranded for the same reason any organisation chooses to do so – to create value, and to signal change." ______________

I tweeted my reply. It's called:

Mucking-up your Marque. Not by Cllr JoeGo Logo !

It's dead easy for a local authority to rebrand and change its logo. You need to be a councillor who is an ally of the Council Leader. Accusations of vanity exercises, wasting taxpayers' money and PR guff are likely to abound. In my case entirely accurate.   Do I care? "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn". As Franklin D. Roosevelt might have said. [Note to self: Check on Brainy Quotes website.]   And that's even before you get started on the aesthetics. Choosing which fashionable brands of trainers, stripey shirt, and skinny jeans to wear while making my logo selection.   So why do it and why go for something as naff and easily spoofed as I have in Haringey?   Two simple answers. First, I had £86,000 of other people's cash to chuck away. With nobody stopping me. Wow. That was fun!

Second, Haringey has rebranded for the same reason other failing organisations do. If you haven't got a clue what to do, fiddle around with the notepaper, redraft the key values; and screw-up the logo.
