| Description |
English: Walled-up entrance to the Grotte du Cheval (Horse cave), Arcy-sur-Cure, Yonne, Burgundy, France; and the small shelter to its left. There is a very narrow passage some 70 m inside the cave. When the cave entrance was walled shut (as seen here), it was decided that the door would be as narrow as that inner passage so that people who could not pass the inner passage would not be able to pass this door either, and thus would not get stuck 70 m away from the entrance. This information was provided by Nadine, guide in the Great Cave.
Français : Entrée murée de la grotte du Cheval, Arcy-sur-Cure, Yonne, Burgundy, France ; et le petit abri à sa gauche. A quelque 70 m de l'entrée de la grotte se trouve un passage très étroit. Quand l'entrée a été murée, il a été décidé que la porte d'accès à la grotte ne serait pas plus grande que ce passage étroit ; ainsi les personnes ne pouvant passer l'étroiture ne pourraient pas non plus passer la porte d'entrée, leur évitant ainsi de se retrouver coincées dans la grotte à 70 m de l'entrée.
