Description
English: Ludovico Ariosto, Orlando Furioso, 1634 - Ariodante and Dalinda, illustration pl.V, p.31. The tale of Ariodante, and Ginevra impersonated by Dalinda is the subject of a fine engraving in the 1634 edition of Harington's translation of Orlando Furioso. This plate shows several scenes from the story that Shakespeare used, including in the foreground, the deception of Ariodante when he is made to believe that his love, Ginevra, has welcomed another lover at night.
