Description
The Bank of Thrift can be seen in the background between the gatehouse of Government House and the Boer War Memorial. The Bank of Thrift was a simple facade erected for the Seventh War Loan Appeal. It was opened on 16 September 1918 and removed in September 1919. South Australia raised £4,416,910 ($8,833,820) in the allotted subscription period from 16 September to 28 October 1918.
