Summary[edit]
DescriptionArmorial Bearings of the LACY family of Holme Lacy, Herefs.png |
English: Armorial Bearings of the LACY family of Holme Lacy, Herefs. "The De Lacis were a great territorial family in the County. Walter de Laci, with his brother Ilbert, were companions of the Conqueror; the former died 1080, of a fall from the battlement of St. Peter's Church in Hereford. One line of this race terminated in the fourth generation with Walter de Lacy, Lord of Meath, who died in 1241, (see Verdon); he bore, Or, a fess gules, in chief three martlets of the second. Another branch became Earl of Lincoln; their arms were, Or, a lion rampant purpure. The succession seems to have been much broken, but the De Lacis continued in the County to the time of Ed. II."
