| Description |
English: The rear of Arriva Guildford & West Surrey 4022 (GN58 BUO), an Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart, turning left from Mount Hermon Road into Guildford Road, Woking, Surrey, on route 35. Route 35 usually runs from Guildford, up Wych Hill Lane, turns right into York Road before continuing the full length of the road to Guildford Road, where it turns left to head into Woking. However, due to road works to replace a gas main in Guildford Road, the end of York Road had been blocked off, as seen here: File:Woking Guildford Road gas roadworks September 2009 2.JPG. Route 35 therefore had to divert off York Road, along Montgomery Road, left into Mount Hermon Road, left into Guildford Road, then passing the end of York Road and picking up the normal line of route. The diversion ran the opposite for the other direction. The route missed out the bus stops it would usually serve in York Road, so a temporary stop was put up in Montgomery Road, as seen here: File:Woking Montgomery Road temporary bus stop in September 2009.JPG. Unfortunately, 4022 had come off Wych Hill Lane too early, run the whole length of Mount Hermon Road, and then turned left into Guildford Road, persuadably as a result of a lack of communications over what the diversion was. Therefore it missed three sets of bus stops along York Road, as well as the temporary bus stop set up. Let's just hope no one was waiting for it. Unfortunately I didn't get the camera out in time to capture it coming the wrong way. |
