FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Silvia Christen, SD Stockgrowers Assoc, 605-342-0429 Adam Schuchhardt, Intertribal Agriculture Council, 605-850-9234 Ranch Family Community Gathering To Be Held in Eagle Butte Ranch families from the Dewey and Ziebach County area are invited to attend a community gathering on Thursday, November 14 at the Landmark Hall in Eagle Butte from 6 until 9pm. The event will offer a free meal and information about resources available as ranches begin the process of rebuilding in the wake of the October Blizzard. Resources and information will be available from the SD Animal Industry Board, the SD Department of Agriculture, SDSU Extension, NRCS, Farm Service Agency, Intertribal Agriculture Council, insurance agencies, agricultural industry organizations, and mental health professionals. NRCS will provide information regarding the EQIP program to assist producers with costs of rebuilding fence, rebuilding shelterbelts, and carcass disposal. The deadline to sign up for the current program is November 15. For more information, contact the NRCS offices at 605-352-1200 or visit with NRCS staff at the meeting. This gathering is a joint effort by SD Stockgrowers Association, Intertribal Agriculture Council, SD Cattlemen’s Association, SD Farm Bureau, and SD Farmers Union with the support of other industry groups and local businesses.
