Description

The 1889 atlas of Indianapolis and Marion County was published by Griffing, Gorden, and Company. It includes maps of the county and its townships and towns, as well as thirteen plates of the city of Indianapolis specifically. Also includes maps of Indiana, the United States, and the western and eastern hemispheres, originally published by O.W. Gray and Son; an explanation of the Congressional plan for the surveying and disposal of public lands in the western territories; United State population statistics, by county, from the 1870 and 1880 censuses; listings of both historical and current national and state government officials; a directory of atlas patrons; and an index to the Indianapolis plat maps.
