English: The above still captures one of the most inherent parts of Bengal- Durga Puja.
In the bichrome, the gold burns over black like fire over charcoal, like light blazes over dark, like good thrives over evil- like Devi Durga triumphs over mahishasura. Bengal in its core cradles the love for festivals equally with its faith in Devi Durga. She is the symbol of strength, the epitome of womanhood and motherhood. Bengal worships devi durga as its mother and celebrates her as its daughter returning home. The state lights up for ten days as it commemorates love, hope, joy and most quintessentially food. |
