English: Brick prisoners' barracks at the site of the former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp. Inside each of the buildings between 700-1000 prisoners slept. Brick barracks were the earliest constructions in Birkenau. They were constructed of bricks and wood from demolished houses that had belonged to Polish farmers forcibly expelled by the Germans from nearby villages in the spring of 1941 during the creation of the so-called 'Zone of Interest' of the camp
Polski: Murowane baraki dla więźniów na terenie byłego obozu Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Wewnątrz każdego z budynków spało 700-1000 więźniów. Baraki murowane były najwcześniejszymi konstrukcjami w Birkenau. Były one budowane z cegieł i drewna ze rozebranych domów, które należały do mieszkańców polskich wsi wysiedlonych siłą przez Niemców wiosną 1941 r. podczas tworzenia tzw. strefy interesów obozu. |
